Greetings, Elizabeth Kerner

Fantasy is my favorite genre, especially stories involving dragons. I am very interested in reading your Tales of Kolmar trilogy. However, it has come to my attention that there are abridged versions floating around. May I ask how I can tell an abridged version from an unabridged version, and what was changed in the abridged version?

Thank you.

Elizabeth wrote: The abridged version of Song in the Silence is the Starscape imprint, which is meant for slightly younger readers. I was asked to tone down the language a bit and get rid of a few scenes that were not deemed appropriate. The Starscape edition has a pale cover, with Lanen in the foreground and a dream-like dragon a long way behind her. The full unabridged version has a blue-green cover by Peter Bollinger, with Lanen standing beside (an admittedly far too small) Akhor by the edge of the sea. Thank you for reading!

I can't tell you how long I've hoped for you to write more books. You are deffinitly in my top ten favorite series ( and if you knew how many books I've read in my life, you'd know that's saying something) I'm happy to see you're still working on something and best wishes for it to be out soon!

My Dearest Elizabeth, (if I may be so bold?) But, having read "Song in the Silence" 6 or more times, I just found out about the other 2 books in late 2011, OH, Joy!!! I got them from Ebay, & being that I "Eat" books, I read them as slowly as possible, to savory every nuance, twist, turn, & hated to reach the end.

Now I find your web site, I find more to come!!! Thank you so much. I have read your life's journey, & I fully understand to the best of my life's similarities. I am now 55, & since Nov. of 2003, I have learned that I am losing the ability to walk. NO, "oh poor lady" please. I am so blessed, I am married to the most wonderful Husband/Man in this World. He treats me as if I'm spun glass. Spoils me rotten, & I love him in this world & whatever comes after.

But, I just wanted to Thank you for creating the world of Akor & Lanen. You have given me hours of a life away from the hellish pain, by giving me the Key to a World that I so wish I could have lived in. How wonderful to talk with one of the Kindred. To be held in the hands of a Beloved one as you both soar thru the sky. To feel the warmth of your Love, just to know that (I'm sorry) Dragons are real! That is a Dream beyond a Dream!

I will pray for your wonderful self, for you must be a wonderful Woman to have written with such passion. You made me laugh, to Love, to cry, such anger. I've read every one from Anne McCafferay (God Bless her Soul)to Wilber Smith, (The River God series), Lovecraft, etc, etc. But, I have carried around with me 3 large boxes filled with paper backs, of all my very favorite books, & Song in the Silence has been with me from almost the day it came out in print. I was born & raised in Portland, Oregon till 1998 when my Job as an Accountant, sent me out here to open a new office. I have loved the Jean Auel series since the Clan of the Cave Bear came out, to the last of the series this last year. I'm also very Proud to say that on my Father's side I am 23rd generation Clan Anderson. My Grandfather Anderson lived on Anderson Clan land that is west of Falkirk & Stirling, the Carron River runs through it. So, I'm pleased that you get to live in the Beautiful Scotland!

Well, I'll not take more of your time, I just wanted to Thank you for Hours of Sheer Heaven in the land of Kolmar, with Akor & Lanen. I look with much joy over the new book coming. But, know that I will pray for you & the Life's troubles we all have. I lost my Mother in April of 2007, we had 25 days together until the morning I held her as she took her last breath. So, I understand some of what you may be feeling, but nobody feels the same about anything. But, Stand Strong, Feel the Sun on your Face, & Thank God for another day.

Your #1Fan, Cynthia

Hi Elizabeth!
I just finished reading Song in the Silence and I couldn't put it down! I loved it more than anything else I've read. I'm Deaf and love to read even thought I lose much of my eyesight when I read. I read on and on wanting to know more about Akhor. Many times I had to stop and rest to recover my sight and then I read on again! Thank you for lifting my life with such a beautiful love story! I love dragons too!

Elizabeth wrote: Victoria, thank you so much for your kind words. I'm sorry it is so difficult for you to read, but I am deeply honoured that you took such trouble to read my work. It is always gratifying when Lanen, Akor and co. find a new friend, and such a friend! Able and determined, articulate and kind. Thank you with all my heart. All the best, Elizabeth

I absolutely adored your Lanen & Akhor/Varien trilogy. I've come back to your website several times to check for updates re. when the first new book would be coming out. Since the date's still indefinite, I wanted to suggest/request you offer a mailing list to receive news as it becomes available. I'd hate to miss out on it for who-knows-how-long due to forgetting to check. 'Best of good luck and inspiration in your re-editing.

Just to let you know that I'm not dead (yet) so you do not need to grieve and get all depressed.

Keep up the weight loss. When are you going to take up swimming? Good general exercise for heart and lungs; and you can sort out the plot bunnies while you wander up and down your length(s)!

P'ter the Nut.

Elizabeth wrote: Hiya Peter. Glad you're still amongst the living! And yes, I can swim just fine - grew up in Florida - but it's snowing outside just now and I am disinclined to get wetter than I have to! Good to hear from you.

Have read your blogs and from what I've read your weight loss success is even more amazing. You've been through so much. I to have depression had it on and of since my son was born in1993. Like you say its unpredictable you can't anticipate the next bout. But if you ever need to talk I'm always here to listen. x
