You mention Mike Freeman and Tania Opland, who I know did the fabulous Pern music CDs. Have they considered doing at least a single for Laenen's world? I bet they could do a great job with the song you mention near the beginning of the first book, when Laenen hears the dragons in the silence.

I LOVE their music, and would be delighted to buy that track from them.

Elizabeth wrote: I quite agree! However, the fact is that Tanya and Mike fell in love with Anne McCaffrey's world and her song lyrics spoke to them. Anne is also great at describing the effect that the Harpers' music has on people, and Tanya and Mike were able to use their multifarious skills to reproduce that effect in their listeners. But in case you're wondering, yes, I would LOVE to hear their interpretation of Kolmari music one day.

Dear Ms. Kerner,
First of all, I'm sorry you had to have carpal tunnel surgery. I've had it done to both my wrists(I'm right-handed, so I asked for the work to be done on my left hand first), and it's not fun recovering from that, as you well know. Suffice it to say that grocery bags were my best friends: I wrapped my arm/wrist in one, secured it with rubber bands, so I could take a bath without messing up the bandages!!!
Secondly, I am really excited about the next series of Kolmar novels. When I read that Lanen's twins each had a little bump on their foreheads(right where the soulgem would be), I became eager to hear what will happen to Varien and Lanen(and their kids), to Will, to all the characters I've come to love. I can't wait--but I will be patient...
Thirdly, I also used to sing--I'm a soprano, but was used as an alto(short supply of altos, a-hem!) in my choral group, back when I sang at mass, in Washington, DC. Then I found out I had asthma, and my vocal cords sort of went kaput. My voice is very rough now, even raspy sometimes...the higher registers are just about a thing of the past ...but I take my music where I can, singing in the shower or when I clean the bathrooms. I still have enough breath for that, and to play the pennywhistle, so I am grateful for that much.
Finally, I want to wish you and yours a wonderful, magical 2011! You and yours deserve it, and I promise I will be visiting your site to check up on news.
Take care, and have a wonderful week!
Peace, love and hugs,
Tina

I'm so happy that you are actually writing the next book in the series . I've been waiting for the follow up to the first three books since I first read them. I was worried that they would never come . I had heard in 2009 that you had been contracted to write three more novels for the series but hadn't heard anything more about it since then. I know that it can take years to write a novel but was hoping that it would be out soon anyway. I'm really looking foreword to the release of this next book if u are ever doing a book signing in the Monterey Bay area please let me know.

Thank you, your fan,
Eoin Jennings

Dear Elizabeth,
About tenish years ago I was in jr. high and I had just gotten into fantasy via Anne Mccaffrey. I found your book, the cover of course would not let me put it down. I never got to finish reading till years later. And in all that time your story would pop up in my head a line here a dream there. Then I find a copy of it at my local used used book store (love that place). I finaly! read it through!! I am made so happy to know that you have carried on Lanen's story, that was the number one thing that tickled my mind every time I thought of your book. Thank you so much for these stories i look forward to continuing the journey !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Ms. Kerner,
I love your books. I enjoyed the adventures of Lanen, and when I read about her children--my mind spun with excitement. Dragon/human children! Wow. I can't wait for your second series of books to come out on print.
I loved especially the little dragon thatwas raised by a human. Her wisdom and gentle wit really made me smile.
I wish you good fortune in this next series, and a wonderful 2011 for you and your family!
Peace,
Tina

Elizabeth Kerner, you are a hero to many. I admire you (and Hans) for every word in the Lanene Kaelar series. There's so much I wish to say, but the main reason for this message is to ask: Will there be a fourth book to this series? I would be honestly heartbroken if not. There's so much more the fans Must know! For example, what of their children? May God keep blessing you.
-Mariah

Well, I'm glad to see that Hans was able to get things set up again. It's great to visit your website and keep up to date. Needless to say, I'm interested in pretty much interested in any scifi or fantasy book that has music involved in it, especially the way you've done it, Elizabeth.

I look forward to the new books with ill-concealed impatience.

Elizabeth wrote: Thanks, Robin, for being the first of the New Posters! And thanks for the kind remarks. I'll do my best.

My dear friends - we've had a bit of a meltdown here. Someone managed to hack into the website and delete the whole blessed guestbook! May an author's curse light upon whoever it was, may their fingers go green and rot off, and - well, the rest is not for a family website!
The Amazing Hans has re-jigged the guestbook to be more resistant to such things in future. If you have posted here before, I thank you for your time and your good wishes. If you have not, please feel free to do so. And in any case, thank you for wandering in Kolmar with me. More to come, my friends.
